Music Exchange Program Training for Flutists was completed
This course aims to train musicians who can connect through music to people with learning disabilities, autism, dementia, etc. The lecturer was Amina Hussain, the principal flutist and music therapist of Manchester Camerata, who has continued musical activities in cooperation with medical care and welfare in the U.K., and she gave a four-day training course for flutists. Participants were flutists active around Kobe, who learned how to speak, make eye contact, and move around the audience, while also trying improvisation.

On the third and fourth days, we delivered a music exchange program to the students of the secondary school special needs class and the elders of the special care home. A student who is not good at doing things for the first time was talking with performers they had never met before, moving their bodies to their heart’s content, laughing, and crying.

This program will continue as part of the social inclusion project of the KOBE International Music Festival to be held in the summer of 2025. Please look forward to the future activities of the participants.
