Passing of Mr. Soichi Minegishi
With a great sadness, we write of the passing of Mr. Soichi Minegishi, Advisor of the Kobe international Flute Competition, on July 24, 2023, at the age of 90.
Mr. Minegishi played with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra and New Japan Philharmonic as a principal flute and taught many students as a professor of Toho Gakuen College Music. He contributed to the development of Japan’s flute industry through a wide range of activities including performing chamber music, appearing TV programs, and serving as a president of the Japan Flute Association.
He served as a jury member of the Kobe Competition for five consecutive competitions from the 3rd to 7th editions (1993-2009), during which he also chaired its jury committee as well as management committee.
