Passing of Professor Paul Meisen
With deep regret and profound sadness, we inform you of the passing of Prof. Paul Meisen, our friend and colleague flutist who served as the KIFC’s jury member, on June 23, 2020. He was at the age of 86.
As a prominent flutist and professor, he held a number of important positions at the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Detmold University of Music, and the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and made great contributions in both files of music performance and education.
He was a familiar figure in japan; having served as a jury member for the Kobe International Flute Competition consequently from its 2nd to 6th competitions, and as a visiting professor of the Tokyo University of the Arts where he taught many students. He was loved by many people not only for his musicality but also his warm personality.
Our thoughts go out to his family and the people who were close to him, and we extend to them our deepest sympathies.
