Passing of Mr. William Bennet
It is with great sadness we write of the passing of British prominent flutist William Bennet, who served the KIFC’s jury member multiple times, on May 11, 2022. He was at age age of 86.
Mr. Bennet who had a lengthy and distinguished international career in the music played as a principal with the London Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, and the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and as soloist made numerous recordings. In addition, he taught at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany and he taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he dedicated to fostering young outstanding flutists.
At the KIFC, he was a jury member at the 2nd, 7th, and 8th editions (1989, 2009, and 2013). With his clean-cut performance and frank personality, he became familiar and favorite among many Japanese.
Our thoughts go out to his family and the people who were close to him, and we extend to them our deepest sympathies.
