Announcing Selected Contestants for the 10th KIFC
56 contestants selected for the 10th Kobe International Flute Competition
We are pleased to announce that, as a result of the preliminary screening held from May 31 to June 12, 2021, 56 flutists from 24 countries/region have been selected to participate in the 10th KIFC.
The screening process for this time was highly competitive. Not only had we received the largest number of applications ever with 483 flutists applying even in the midst of a pandemic, but also the overall performance level of applicants was impressively high.
In the midst of unprecedented challenging times, it must have not been easy to stay focused on preparing for their applications. It was also unfortunate that some applicants had to cancel their entry due to schedule conflict with the competition’s new schedule change caused by the pandemic. Yet, through the preliminary screening, we witnessed applicants’ dedication to their music and determination in making the best out of any circumstances they were in. And, we reassured our responsibility to overcome any challenges and make this competition as one bringing hopes to aspiring young musicians around the world.
We would like to congratulate all the applicants, not just those who selected this time, for their hard work, and hope for their further success in the future.
The 10th KIFC will combine both in-person and virtual formats. In the First Round of the competition, a panel of the international jury will select, based on the video recording of each contestant’s performance, approximately 24 contestants who will advance to the Second Round. Then those who qualified for the second round will be invited to pursue the competition at Kobe Bunka Hall in March 2022 in Kobe, Japan. The video recording of the First Round will be streamed online from August 26.
Please look forward to discovering new talents who would lead the next generation of the music world.
