Notes: Depending on the situation of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the competition dates above will be subject to change. The possibility of cancel or postponement of the competition may be discussed after March 2021 if necessary.

ELIGIBILITY Open to flutists born between 1988 and 2005
(between the ages of 15 to 32 as of December 31, 2020).

STRUCTURE OF THE COMPETITION The Competition consists of four rounds: the First, Second, Third, and Final Rounds. Approximately fifty contestants who passed the Preliminary Screening based on the submitted recording and document will participate in the Competition.The order in which contestants perform will be determined by drawing lots for each round. All performances will be open to the public.

First prize: 2,000,000 Japanese yen / Certificate of Merit
Second prize: 1,000,000 Japanese yen / Certificate of Merit
Third prize: 500,000 Japanese yen / Certificate of Merit
Forth to sixth prizes: 200,000 Japanese yen / Certificate of Merit

  • Special prizes may be awarded apart from those mentioned above.
  • The highest ranked prizewinner may be invited to give solo recitals in Kobe or elsewhere in Japan, and/or to perform as a soloist with major orchestras in Japan.
